Welcome to Tanzania & Journey to Karatu

Upon arrival in Arusha, your professional Lowen Safaris guide will warmly welcome you and provide a comprehensive safari briefing before your adventure begins. Depart for Karatu, situated along the Great Rift Valley escarpment and serving as the gateway to Lake Manyara National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The scenic drive takes approximately 2½ hours, passing Maasai villages, coffee plantations and beautiful highland landscapes. Upon arrival, check in at Manyara Best View Lodge and enjoy panoramic views overlooking Lake Manyara before relaxing for the remainder of the afternoon.

Journey to the Great Migration

After breakfast, depart for Serengeti National Park via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Wildlife sightings often begin even before reaching the park as you travel through one of Africa's richest ecosystems. Continue north through the endless Serengeti plains toward the famous Northern Serengeti, internationally known for the spectacular Great Migration and dramatic Mara River crossings. Arrive at Safari Haven Migration Camp during the late afternoon for dinner and overnight.

After an early breakfast, drive to the magnificent Ngorongoro Conservation Area before descending approximately 600 metres into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater. During your full-day game drive, follow the Tarangire River, the park's lifeline, where wildlife gathers throughout the year. Your experienced safari guide will help you search for large elephant families, lions resting beneath acacia trees, elusive leopards, graceful giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, impalas, and over 550 recorded bird species.
