8-Day Lemosho Route Itinerary

The Lemosho Route offers one of the most scenic and rewarding journeys on Mount Kilimanjaro. Over eight days, you'll enjoy excellent acclimatization, diverse landscapes and a relaxed climbing pace that greatly improves summit success.

DAY 1

Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

After registration at Londorossi Gate, continue to the Lemosho trailhead where your Kilimanjaro adventure begins. Trek through lush rainforest filled with giant trees, colorful birds and playful black-and-white colobus monkeys before arriving at Mti Mkubwa Camp for your first night on the mountain.

Today's trek is one of the most important acclimatization days on the Lemosho Route. Climb steadily to the famous Lava Tower at 4,630 metres where you'll stop for lunch and enjoy spectacular volcanic scenery. After spending time at high altitude, descend to Barranco Camp following the proven "climb high, sleep low" principle, greatly improving your body's acclimatization while enjoying breathtaking views of the Great Barranco Valley.

Begin the day by climbing the famous Barranco Wall, one of Kilimanjaro's most exciting and rewarding sections. Continue across valleys and ridges before arriving at Karanga Camp, where you'll have time to relax and continue acclimatizing for the higher elevations ahead.

Today's trek takes you to Barafu Camp, the final base camp before your summit attempt. After arriving at camp, enjoy an early dinner, prepare your summit equipment, and rest before your midnight departure to Uhuru Peak.

Your summit adventure begins shortly after midnight as you leave Barafu Camp under a sky filled with stars. Following a slow and steady pace, you'll climb towards Stella Point before reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895 metres), the highest point in Africa. Witness a breathtaking sunrise above the clouds, celebrate your incredible achievement, and capture unforgettable photographs. After spending time at the summit, descend carefully back to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing through alpine desert and heathland to Mweka Camp for a well-earned night's sleep.
