ROUTE OVERVIEW

6 Days Marangu Route

The Marangu Route is the oldest and most established route on Mount Kilimanjaro. Often referred to as the "Coca-Cola Route," it is the only route that provides comfortable mountain hut accommodation throughout the climb, making it an excellent choice for trekkers who prefer not to camp. Beginning at Marangu Gate on the southeastern side of the mountain, the trail passes through lush rainforest, scenic moorland, alpine desert and finally to the glaciers surrounding Uhuru Peak (5,895 metres), the highest point in Africa.

This carefully planned 6-day itinerary includes an additional acclimatization day at Horombo Hut, significantly improving summit success compared to the shorter five-day option. The extra day allows your body to adapt to the increasing altitude while providing more time to appreciate Kilimanjaro's spectacular landscapes and unique ecological zones.

Perfect for first-time climbers, families and anyone seeking the comfort of mountain huts, the Marangu Route combines excellent support, experienced mountain guides and one of the most enjoyable trekking experiences on Mount Kilimanjaro. With Lowen Safaris, every climb is led by professional guides, supported by dedicated porters and mountain chefs to ensure a safe, comfortable and unforgettable adventure.
