7 Days Machame Route
The Machame Route, famously known as the "Whiskey Route," is Mount Kilimanjaro's most popular climbing route and is highly regarded for its spectacular scenery, diverse landscapes and excellent summit success. Starting on the southern slopes of Kilimanjaro, the trail passes through lush rainforest, giant heather moorlands, alpine desert and finally to the glaciers of Uhuru Peak (5,895 metres), the highest point in Africa.
The carefully designed 7-day itinerary follows the internationally recommended "climb high, sleep low" acclimatization principle. Climbers ascend to Lava Tower before descending to Barranco Camp, allowing the body to adapt naturally to the altitude while significantly improving summit success compared to shorter itineraries.
One of the highlights of the Machame Route is climbing the famous Barranco Wall, an exciting but non-technical scramble that rewards climbers with spectacular panoramic views. Combined with professional mountain guides, experienced porters and excellent mountain support, the Machame Route delivers one of Kilimanjaro's most rewarding trekking experiences for both first-time and experienced climbers.
