FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything You Need to Know Before Climbing Kilimanjaro

Planning your Kilimanjaro adventure comes with many questions. Here are answers to some of the most common topics to help you prepare with confidence.

Do I need previous climbing experience?

No. Mount Kilimanjaro is a trekking mountain rather than a technical climb. Anyone with a good level of fitness, determination, and proper preparation can successfully reach the summit with the support of experienced guides.

Which Kilimanjaro route is best?

The Lemosho Route is our most recommended option because it offers beautiful scenery, excellent acclimatization, and one of the highest summit success rates. The best route, however, depends on your fitness level, available time, and personal preferences.

How many days should I spend on the mountain?

We recommend climbing for at least 7 or 8 days. Longer itineraries allow better acclimatization, making the climb more enjoyable while significantly increasing your chances of reaching Uhuru Peak.

What should I pack?

Essential gear includes layered clothing, waterproof hiking boots, a warm sleeping bag, thermal wear, gloves, trekking poles, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a quality daypack. A complete packing list will be provided after booking.

What is the best time to climb Kilimanjaro?

The most favorable climbing seasons are January to March and June to October when the weather is generally drier, skies are clearer, and trail conditions are ideal for trekking.

Can Lowen Safaris arrange airport transfers and accommodation?

Yes. We provide complete Kilimanjaro travel packages including airport transfers, hotel accommodation before and after the climb, professional mountain guides, park fees, meals on the mountain, and all climbing logistics.
